The iPhone is a line of Internet and multimedia-enabled smartphones designed and marketed by Apple Inc., and originally released in 2007. An iPhone functions as a camera phone (also including text messaging and visual voicemail), a portable media player (equivalent to a video iPod), and an Internet client (with e-mail, web browsing, and Wi-Fi connectivity). The user interface is built around the device's multi-touch screen, including a virtual keyboard rather than a physical one. Third-party applications are available from the App Store, which launched in mid-2008 and now has well over 200,000 apps approved by Apple. These apps have diverse functionalities, including games, reference, GPS navigation, social networking, and advertising for television shows, films, and celebrities.
Apple announced the iPhone on January 9, 2007,[18] after months of rumors and speculation.[19] Retroactively labeled, the "original" iPhone was introduced in the United States on June 29, 2007 before being marketed in Europe. It featured quad-band GSM with EDGE. Time magazine named it the Invention of the Year in 2007.[20] Released July 11, 2008, the iPhone 3G supports faster 3G data speeds via UMTS with 3.6 Mbps HSDPA, and assisted GPS.[21] Apple released version 3.0 of the iPhone OS for the iPhone (and iPod Touch) on June 17, 2009.[22] The iPhone 3GS has improved performance, a camera with higher resolution and video capability, voice control,[23] and support for 7.2 Mbps HSDPA downloading (but remains limited to 384 kbps uploading as Apple has not implemented the HSUPA protocol).[24] It was released in the U.S., Canada and six European countries on June 19, 2009,[4] in Australia and Japan on June 26, and internationally in July and August 2009. The original iPhone was discontinued with the introduction of the iPhone 3G, which remains available alongside the iPhone 3GS.

Nokia E71x Mobiles
Kicking off what’s sure to be a fun-filled week of announcements surrounding CTIA out in Vegas, AT&T’s smartphone lineup just got a little beefier thanks to the official introduction of a couple devices we’ve been expecting for a hot minute now. First up, the Nokia E71x is just about ready for shelves, bringing WiFi, AT&T Navigator (which hopefully won’t preclude the use of Nokia Maps and other GPS-enabled apps), and all of the lauded physical design characteristics you’re used to from the original, unbranded E71. The best thing here might be the price — just $99.99 on contract after rebate, thankfully beating rumors of $200 and $150 by a country mile; it’ll hit shelves “in the coming weeks.” Next up is the Samsung Propel Pro, a device that shares very little in common with its Propel namesake other than a form factor, mainly because this sucker’s a full-out smartphone running Windows Mobile 6.1. It’s got WiFi, a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard (naturally) and will be available on April 14 for $149.99 after all your discounts have been applied and your two-year agreement is filed away.

sony ericsson laptops 2010 2012
SONY ERICSSON announced its first Windows Mobile phone, the Xperia X1 and it will be debuting very soon. "It's a truly converged device for entertainment and productivity. We're trying to avoid the use of the term 'smart phone,''' said Suzanne Cross, head product marketing manager for Sony Ericsson North America. The Xperia line signals a new focus on innovations in 'user experience' for Sony Ericsson, said Rikko Sakaguchi, the company's head of portfolio and propositions. "What is tomorrow, what's the vision?" he asked. "A very simplified view is mobile communication with a rich, enriched environment with the Web ... it's not about a great-looking phone or nice design, it's more about appealing to the senses."
Whatever it is, the X1 is smart. The 0.68-inch thick, 5.2-ounce device slides
open to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard and a 3-inch, incredibly high-res 800 X 480 touch screen. Yes, that's a higher pixel density than the iPhone. The Xl's specs include, basically, everything. Quad-band EDGE plus quad-band HSDPA 7.2 with HSUPA? Check. Wi-Fi and GPS? Check. A 3.2-megapixel camera with DVD quality video playback and capture? Check. FM radio, Bluetooth stereo, and GPS? You bet. It's all powered by a 520MHz ARMll processor running Windows Mobile 6. In short, this thing screams.

To navigate around the Xl, you can use the touch screen, cursor keys, or an optical trackpad that works a little like a laptop track pad. Sony Ericsson has been making their own effort at fixing the Windows Mobile interface, too, with a new desktop design they call "Experia panels." Panels are essentially large, finger-friendly blocks that sit on your home screen and let you quickly access various applications.
